Patanjali, the Sutras, and the Harmonica
Following is a slightly revised version of a rather lengthy article that I wrote for the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.
In it, I discuss how the earliest roots of yoga (as delineated in Patanjali’s Sutras, especially Yoga Sutras 1.33 through 1.39) tie in to my use
of the harmonica as a mindfulness, yoga, and cognitive-behavioral tool.
Please note: I do not read Sanscrit (or Pali), and am decidedly NOT an expert on the history or philosophy of yoga.
That said, I believe that what I say below (based on commonly accepted English translations of Patanjali's Sutras) is not incorrect, although it is certainly not an exhaustive study of the subject. Also: I am very open to hearing your opinion of the subject!
